A studio built around daylight

Lysning Arkitekter was founded in Oslo in 2011. Today we are fourteen architects, landscape architects and interior architects working across Norway.

What we believe

Start with the site
Every project begins with a day on the ground. Terrain, wind, snow and light shape the first sketches, long before style does.
Build to last
We choose materials that age well and can be repaired: timber, stone, lime and steel. A good building should look better after fifty years.
Design for the dark months
Norway has long winters. We plan daylight, artificial light and warm surfaces so a building feels good in January, not only in June.
